Show Your Pride

June is PRIDE month, and the LGBTQ+ community is growing stronger every day. More brands than ever are showcasing rainbows and equal signs, donating to LGBTQ+ causes, and promoting their own Pride events and merchandise to show their support and connect with those who also support the cause.

This year, WorldPride come to the United States for the first time ever, remembering the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising.

Every year, we see more brands creating Pride Collections, including t-shirts, hats, and shoes for which all proceeds go towards non-profits that support LGBTQ+ rights. DKNY, J. Crew, Under Armour, Express, Gap and Calvin Klein all have their own Pride Collections. Nike, Reebok, TOMS, and Converse are just a few shoe brands that incorporate shades of rainbows and the colors of LGBTQ+ community flags. Playboy, a longtime supporter, sells Playboy Bunny Ears and shirts designed by queer artists that can be bought online or at New York City’s WorldPride. Pepsi’s “All For Love Pride Pack” includes 18 rainbow colored cans, Harry’s “Shave With Pride” kit is back, and MAC’s #MACLOVESPRIDE rainbow lipstick collection are just some of the non-clothing companies relaying their support.

Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat add Pride-themed hashtags, frames, and filters. While streaming channels, like Hulu, create dedicated sections for the LGBTQ+ community.

So, what I’m trying to say is…it’s PRIDE Month!! Be proud of who you are, who you love, and what you believe in. This month is about loving yourself and others equally! If we can learn to accept one another for the beautiful, weird, loud, gay, straight, bi, fat, skinny, black, purple, green, people that we are, maybe every month can be like this too.
